We are a 24/7 veterinary hospital seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Emergency Veterinarian or Relief Veterinarian to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, supportive environment with a skilled technical staff and a diverse caseload.
Available Shifts:
- Overnight shifts (typically 10:00 PM – 9:00 AM or similar).
- Flexible scheduling available for relief veterinarians.
- Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
Position Overview
As an Overnight ER Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing high-quality emergency and critical care to patients during overnight hours. You will work closely with experienced technicians and support staff to deliver efficient and compassionate medical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emergency and urgent care to small animal patients.
- Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and develop treatment plans.
- Interpret radiographs, lab results, and diagnostic tests.
- Perform emergency and soft tissue surgical procedures as needed.
- Oversee and collaborate with veterinary technicians and assistants.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Active California veterinary license (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in emergency medicine preferred, but not required.
- Strong diagnostic, surgical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with emergency/critical care cases.
- Proficiency in radiology and ultrasound interpretation.
- Comfort with emergency surgical procedures.
- Strong decision-making and multitasking abilities.
